These unknown attachments are mostly viruses and once a virus enters your computer, you will have a hard time pushing them out. In fact, the best way to discover whether the file is a virus or not, is through scanning. Always scan these attachments before downloading them.
  • Do not download stuff from unknown sites. Almost all good antiviruses combines a feature of suggesting whether the website is free from viruses or not. You would see a small green check symbol on those sites, which are safe to visit, and a small red cross symbol on those pages which are unsafe. Do not visit sites, which are unsafe because those sites are definitely infected.
